Introduction of Stimulatherapy
STIMULATHERAPY is an alternative medicine technique that stimulate the self healing mechanism of the body by applying and hacking pressure on selected parts of the body, include applying fixed or movable pressure, holding or causing movement to parts of the body. It is similar with massage where pressure is applied primarily with the hands, sometimes the forearms or elbows are used. These techniques affect the muscular, skeletal, circulatory, lymphatic, nervous, and other systems of the body. The basic philosophy of stimulatherapy embraces the concept of "aiding the ability of the body to heal itself."

The principles of Stimulatherapy
Stimulatherapy, at a very basic level, uses touch to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. By working tension from muscles and stimulating the body’s immune system, Stimulatherapy help return the body to its natural state – the way it would be without long hours at the office and sleepless nights. Touch or pressure is also important because it is connected with feelings of comfort, which can reduce stress and anxiety. Stimulatherapy is part of a long tradition, and today it is becoming a more mainstream healthcare option because it is able to bring about real health benefits without resorting to drug interventions and without giving up its basic principles.

The Objective Of Stimulatherapy
STIMULATHERAPY uses pressure and certain devices (to be applied on certain parts of the body) to improve the flow of blood and lymph (fluid in lymph glands, part of immune system), to reduce muscular tension or flaccidity, to affect the nervous system through stimulation and to enhance tissue healing. Stimulatherapy may be recommended for children and adults to deliver benefits such as the following:
- reducing muscle tension and stiffness
- increasing joint and limb flexibility and range of motion
- relieving points of tension and overall stress; inducing relaxation
- promoting deeper and easier breathing
- improving blood circulation and movement of lymph
- relieving tension-related headaches and eyestrain
- promoting faster healing of soft tissue injuries, such as pulled muscles and sprained ligaments
- reducing pain and swelling related to injuries
- reducing emotional or physical stress and reducing anxiety
- promoting feelings of well-being
- increasing awareness of the mind-body connection and improving mental awareness and alertness generally
Stimulatherapy formerly known as Seni Pijat Jawa is a homegrown modality founded by Dato’ Rusly Abdullah. Dato’ Rusly learned Seni Pijat Jawa from his Javanese grandmother who was migrated to Malaysia from Central Java.
Most Malaysians of Javanese descent have assimilated into the local Malay culture and speak Malay as a native tongue and first language rather than the Javanese language of their ancestors but they are strongly belief in old Javanese treatment method. The Malaysian Javanese known for their skill in Seni Pijat Jawa (Javanese traditional massage). In Seni Pijat Jawa, pushing and stroking techniques predominate, working to ease muscle and joint pain. The deep thumb pressure is accompanied with simultaneous stroking palm movements, squeezing and pushing against the skin and veins to improve blood circulation. Dato’ Rusly has practised Seni Pijat Jawa since 1986 in Johor Bahru. Then he trained a group of men and women who interested in the massage technique. With the group Dato’ Rusly developed the massage into a modality namely Seni Pijat Jawa. |
In 2009 Dato’ Rusly submitted an application to register the modality with Biro Perubatan Tradisional Dan Komplimentari (BPTK) Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM). BPTK has advised that the name Seni Pijat Jawa could not be registered. After a few meeting and consultation we agreed to change the name of the modality to Stimulatherapy. Subsequently an association with the name PERSATUAN PENGAMAL STIMULATHERAPY MALAYSIA (PESTIMAL) was formed and approved by ROS in 2011. (ROS NO: 1535-11-SEL)
